OUR STORY
Lydia and Moses DeHart established Bascule as a studio devoted to equestrian metalwork - hand-forged in Philadelphia, where brass and steel are shaped into objects of lasting presence.
Lydia is an equestrian whose horsemanship was shaped through years spent in stables, the quiet generosity of those who opened gates, and a return to the estate once managed by her grandfather - a horseman she never met, yet whose presence continues to inform her practice. Her design perspective is rooted in the quiet beauty of riding.
Moses is a designer and metalworker whose work bridges disciplined craft and sculptural form. Influenced by a background in music, he approaches metalwork with a sensitivity to rhythm, tension, and structure.
Together, they are committed to supporting the next generation of riders through Bascule's ongoing partnership with Work to Ride in Philadelphia.
